The Happold Foundation is pleased to announce that we have appointed BuroHappold partner Ian Maddocks as our new Chairman. Ian succeeded Gavin Thompson in the role in May.
A global director for building specialisms at BuroHappold Engineering, Ian has over 25 years experience in the sector. Ian began his career after completing degrees in Architecture, both of which had a strong engineering element. He has worked on a number of large-scale, multidisciplinary projects including the Al Faisaliah development in Riyadh, Queen Elizabeth II Great Court at The British Museum in London and the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
Ian said, “I am looking forward to building on the work that Gavin has done over the last few years, and working with the Trustees to further the work of the Happold Foundation. I believe that by creating an environment in which we can discuss the issues that affect us all we can really make an impact on the places where people live.”
Ian joins 15 Happold Foundation trustees to work on developing our four key focus areas, Thinking, Human Development, Futures and Education.
