The Happold Foundation is pleased to announce that this year’s Happold Brilliant Award was presented to Leeds Beckett University in recognition of the exceptional content and delivery of its engineering courses. The judging panel was impressed by the quality of the courses at Leeds and at AIBE, the University’s franchise institution in Hong Kong, as well as the strong leadership shown by the academics.
Leeds Beckett’s Mike White was chosen to accept the award on behalf of the University, with the panel making reference to his commitment to teaching Building Services Engineering. Mike was presented with the award and bursary cheque at the annual President’s Awards Dinner in London on Friday 12thOctober.
Leeds Beckett University and AIBE’s both have a higher number of graduates than average. This reflects their dedication to bringing more young people in both the UK and Hong Kong into a career in the built environment, a commitment that the Foundation believes is vital to the future of the industry.
The Happold Brilliant Prize is funded by the Happold Foundation and awarded to one institution that has demonstrated an outstanding contribution to education. The prize includes a £1000 bursary for the institution along with a Happold Brilliant trophy.
